Step-by step guide on how to hide a tattoo with make-up
1. Clean your skin well
The make-up must be able to attach well to the skin. Make sure your skin is well scrubbed and hydrated. It is best to do this a few days in advance to avoid redness around the tattoo. Scrub lightly and treat your skin with a delicious body lotion or cream. Make sure you wait until the skin has completely absorbed the lotion or cream.
2. Start with a good primer
Once absorbed; start applying a product that adheres well to the skin. These so called primers or make-up base will ensure that the makeup stays on all day.
3. Apply the make-up
Preferably, you work with a stiff tassel so that you can distribute the substance alternatively you make dabbing movements over the tattoo with the ring finger. There are different types of make-up on the market that work well. E.g. Dermabled, Covermark or the brand of Kat von D. These products are developed with the specific purpose of concealing tattoos. You can also use a red pigment from a liquid blush or matte lipstick to remove the dark from the tattoo. After these steps, you can use an opaque foundation that contains a lot of powder particles. Do not use a transparent foundation or BB-cream: they definitely do not cover-up your tattoo sufficiently.
4. Powder
It is necessary that the whole tattoo is polished. Otherwise, the camouflaged tattoo will rub-off. Of course foundation is the last thing you need on your beautiful wedding dress!
5. Fixation
Last but not least: ensure the fixation by using a fix spray as final step. There are sprays available on the internet, but your hairspray will do just fine!
