The ceremony is the heart of the wedding. It sets the tone for the celebration that follows. One of my grooms said it best: “The ceremony was just something I thought we had to get through until the partying, but Zita made it very special and romantic.”
Romantic? Oh yes! At Moon River Rituals, the hallmark of every ceremony I create is the love story. It shows your guests who you are as a Couple and why you fell in love. It’s the “Once upon a time” that distinguishes your wedding from any other.
You see, in addition to being an ordained interfaith minister, I’m also a multipublished romance novelist. I do know love stories!
My weddings are also known for the unique rituals I created, among them “Garden Gifts” incorporating the magical properties of herbs, “Love Knots” for a wedding with a nautical theme, “The Red Cord” drawing on the myth of the Chinese fatherly moon god, “Three Goblets” a wine ritual to honor the past, present, and future, “Wind Horse” with Tibetan prayer flags for a Buddhist Couple, “The Wedding Jar” with its many possibilities.
My favorite ritual is a modern adaptation of an ancient Celtic handfasting, origin of the phrase “to tie the knot.” For Couples who incorporate this ritual into their ceremony, I make a custom-designed cord in their colors in exchange for professional photographs.
If a Couple wants more traditional fare, I’m happy to accommodate. The wedding day is no time for unwanted surprises. That’s also why my Couples have total script approval.
In the end, I tell my Couples: Your ceremony doesn’t have to be religious to be spiritual. It doesn’t have to be traditional to be meaningful. It doesn’t have to be long to be memorable. But, the memories you make that day do need to last a lifetime. I’d be honored to help you do just that.
