Dana Starkell is an award winning professional classical guitarist available for all occasions throughout the Midwest including the surrounding areas of CHICAGO, ST. LOUIS, MEMPHIS, MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL, DES MOINES, and IOWA CITY. Dana performs at a wide range of events including private weddings and corporate functions. Dana began his solo career while undertaking a world record 12,181 mile canoe trip from Canada to Brazil. During a break in Port of Spain, he was befriended by Philip Keiler (a student of New York guitarist, Alice Artz). This friendship led to Dana's first formal concert at The University of the West Indies in Trinidad. After returning from South America, Dana won the Senior Classical Guitar category of the Manitoba Music Festival in 1983. Since that time, he has attended master classes held by world renowned classical guitarist Christopher Parkening, and taken lessons from John Sutherland, David Brandon, and Norbert Kraft.
Dana’s repertoire includes an elegant colection of Classical, Renaissance, Spanish, and Baroque style pieces and a number of popular style songs to choose from for special occasions. Dana has released six classical guitar albums and has a wide selection of music to compliment your event, large or small.
