Reality TV Style Wedding Films
My Wedding Tales is run by a team of professional TV Producers and Directors who work on some of the UK's top TV shows and documentaries. These include Channel 4's The Hotel, Educating Essex, Come Dine With Me, Top Gear, The One Show and The Family as well as numerous TV commercials.
The way wedding and event videos are made is changing. For a start we don't call them 'videos' anymore, we refer to them as films, more of a documentation of your special day. You will feel like a celebrity when you see the end result as My Wedding Tales turns the traditional wedding (or event) film on its head. How many times have you sat and watched mum and dad's, your sister's or even a friend's wedding video all the way through - in fact have you ever? That's because whilst some are shot like a picture postcard, they have no narrative to keep you interested. My Wedding Tales brings to life your special day and engages the audience just like a TV show. We cover a range of weddings and celebrations, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish and Christian as well as events ranging from birthdays to Bar Mitzvahs.
We offer a range of packages and cut a complete programme including key moments from the wedding day grabbing a relevant selection of sound-bites, from, for example, the bride arriving to the first dance, which are then intercut with the interviews running around 30 to 40 minutes, complete with a title. We agree a time during early evening to interview up to 4 pre-selected people about the day itself. This would normally consist of the Bride, Groom, Maid of Honour and Best Man. However, any one of these people can be replaced should the bride or groom request someone in particular instead. It is, however, key that all of those taking part not only want to, but love to talk! It’s our very own interview technique with contributors that makes our wedding films so different from the rest.
The difference between us and most other wedding video production companies is that we use directors that also operate and shoot within the camera with a TV background. Traditionally a camera operator has a director with them who's responsible for the look and feel of a TV show and in charge of the editorial content. This leaves the camera operator time to do what they do best, compose the shots and worry about the technical side of operating the camera. Nowadays, however, to save on cost, many TV shows will hire just directors to shoot and be across the content. These are called self shooting directors which is an acquired skill because not only have you got to be across operating the camera, but also make sure you are across the content of what's being filmed too.
