2011 Family Photos

We finally got it together and shot our family portraits. We did these in the living room using, the timer on the D3, a white paper background, and two alien bees with soft boxes.

How it All Started!

Natalie Hart Photography is a company based out of Salt Lake City Utah. It is a partnership between myself and my boyfriend Daniel Stewart. Our relationship as well as the company began with the common passion and vision for photography.

The Day I Fell in Love

Daniel and I met in hard times in our lives both professionally and personally. We were both suffering from creative ruts in our careers as photographers, but from the first time we were in the camera room together is was obvious that our connection would soon lead to great ideas and photographic concepts.
I am beginning to realize that Blogging is becoming more and more popular among today's successful photographers, and thought I would give it a try!

John and Wendi's Engagements

This spring we did our first engagement photoshoot with our new lens the Nikon 85mm 1.4.
The best part about having the 85mm 1.4 is being able to create beautiful backgrounds. We ended up doing this photoshoot at a local Murray dog park.
We were nervous at first to do the engagements because our battery pack (vagabond) was broken. This meant that we would not be able to use our soft boxes. Even though we did not have our ideal lighting equipment we were able to create some great images using just an umbrella and an SB900.

After pulling these photos up on our computer we then realized that we had done a pretty good job even without soft boxes.

The environment turned out to be great! The flowers were in bloom, the grass was green, and the light was beautiful. It was the perfect day to tell John and Wendi's love story.

John Sahleen and Wendi Schow are a truly inspiring couple! They were married on June 18th 2011 by Wendi's father.

John and Wendi love the outdoors, their dogs, family, friends, and most of all each other! They have a fresh view on life, and a contagious positive energy! Just being around this couple will make you believe in true love, soul mates, and happily ever after!

We were lucky to be apart of their special day and photograph some of their happiest memories.

Nikon 70-200 mm 2.8

The Nikon 70-200mm 2.8 is by far one of Natalie Hart Photography's favorite lenses!
We first acquired this lens about a year ago. Ever since then we never leave home without it!
It is very important to have a important to us to have a longer focal length more most of the shooting that we do. The one thing that the 70-200 gives us that our other two long lens cannot is speed, sharpness, beautiful backgrounds while still not being too heavy to handhold.

This lens has been very useful for action, portraits and weddings.
Since we have enjoyed the 70-200 mm 2.8 so much we are planning to add the 70-200 mm 2.8 VRII to our collection ASAP!

Lake Powell

Last June Daniel and his family invited me on their vacation to Lake Powell. While we were there we came across many photographic opportunities. The first photo was taken on the back of the house boat with the D3S and 24-70mm 2.8. This shot was challenging not just for the obvious photographic reasons, but mostly because the wildlife started to get particularly curious with our project. Before we were ready to give up on the project the bats started to get really close to us. We were lucky that I didn't kick the cameras into the water in all my panic.
