A note on Premarital Education:
I love offering premarital education – or premarital coaching, as I prefer to call it. It’s helpful for you in getting to understand one another on a deeper level. You’ll learn skills that enrich your relationship and gain insights to also improve your communication with others. You’ll also get a reduced fee on your marriage license in Minnesota.
I’m Rev. Derek Kiewatt. I’ve performed unique and memorable ceremonies for hundreds of couples. I’m still excited about officiating and love being part of this very special moment in people’s lives.
The weddings I help create reflect the beauty and romance of the occasion, while being light-hearted and meaningful. My relaxed, down-to-earth approach and sense of humor contribute to my services, as well.
I’m a graduate of the University of Minnesota and Harvard Divinity School. I’m an ordained Unitarian Universalist (UU) minister. I now focus exclusively on weddings and premarital counseling.

Ceremony: $300
You’ll have my personal assistance before, during, and after the wedding.
*If your wedding is very small (two witnesses and 10 or fewer guests), please inquire about special pricing.
Rehearsal: $100
You’ll receive information for planning the rehearsal. I'll personally conduct it and guide your wedding party and family members, making sure everything is just right for the ceremony.
Travel: Outside the Twin Cities metro area
A reasonable mileage charge will be included. If overnight accommodations may be required, please ask for details. There is no travel fee for the Twin Cities metro area.
Premarital Education: $250
Many couples want to increase the success of their marriage through Premarital Education/Coaching. The focus is on communication and problem-solving. Even couples who’ve been together many years have said it improved their relationships. Completing the program qualifies you for a reduced fee for your Minnesota marriage license.
